How to change the parent supervising a child’s Meta account

If your child is 10-12 (age may vary by region) and you’re unable to supervise their Meta account because your account has been suspended, another parent or guardian can supervise the account instead.

To change the parent supervising a child’s Meta account:

Your child will receive a notification that lets them send an invitation to a new parent or guardian with a link to take over managing your child's account.
The new parent or guardian needs to click the link they are sent and follow the on-screen instructions. They may need to log into or create their own Meta account.
Your child will receive a link to confirm that the new parent or guardian is now supervising their account.

Things to know

When the new parent or guardian is confirmed, the parent or guardian who previously supervised your child’s account will automatically be removed from the account.
The invitation will expire after 30 days. If this happens, your child will need to restart the process.
Your child can cancel and restart the process any time. To cancel and restart, your child will need to tap Get a new link on the notification they received.
Parents and guardians can decline the invitation to take over supervising a child's Meta account.
