Clearing your activity space

Your Meta Quest Pro is not recommended for use outdoors. Before putting on your headset, clear your activity space of objects that you won’t be interacting with and make sure that there is a buffer around it. Check for potential obstacles within arm's reach and watch out for overhead hazards like ceiling fans and light fixtures.

Setting up boundary

Set up a boundary for experiences where you move both in the physical and virtual worlds. This boundary helps you navigate your cleared space safely and prevents collisions with physical objects. The boundary will appear in your VR experience when you’re near or touching its edge.

When setting up your boundary, leave extra space around your activity area, especially near walls and objects that you won’t be interacting with. Remember, the boundary may not detect people or pets, so keep your play area clear even with your headset on. Learn more about setting up your boundary here.

Understanding player modes

With your Meta Quest Pro, you can choose between roomscale or stationary mode based on your space, preference and content. Each mode indicates what size activity space is required for the experience and the level of physical movement.

Roomscale player mode requires a larger activity space (recommended 6.5 feet by 6.5 feet or more) and involves more movement, so a roomscale boundary is recommended for safety.

Sitting and standing player modes are suitable for smaller spaces with limited movement, where a stationary boundary is recommended. In any mode, maintain a clear buffer around your activity space.

Using real-world objects in virtual reality

Some VR apps on Meta Quest let you see and interact with real-world objects—like couches, walls, keyboards, tables, or desks—while you’re in virtual reality.

When using these apps:

Carefully read and follow all warnings, instructions, and prompts to set up and interact with physical objects safely.
Clear your activity space of any unnecessary items, especially hazards such as liquids, heat sources, or sharp objects. Only keep the physical objects you plan to use in your virtual environment.
Always be cautious when interacting with both physical and virtual objects.

Taking care of your Meta Quest Pro

Like other gaming and media products, your Meta Quest Pro is sensitive electronic equipment. Get the most out of your device by cleaning it properly, storing it safely, and keeping it out of spots that might leave it vulnerable to damage.

Keep your device out of direct sunlight and away from sharp objects or sources of heat or liquids.
Keep the electrical charging points clean, dry, and free of debris, including the charging port and contacts, headphone jack, and docks and cables. Periodically check these charging points to ensure that they do not show signs of corrosion or damage.
The front cover window and lenses should only be cleaned with a dry microfiber cloth. Using any liquids, including cleansers or soaps, could permanently damage the front cover window and the lenses.
Non-alcohol, non-abrasive antibacterial wipes can be used to clean the body of your headset excluding the front and the lenses.

Meta Quest Pro is part of Meta’s ongoing journey of enhancing your VR experience, while providing sophisticated privacy controls that help ensure your experience is safe and secure. Meta Quest Pro is built with sophisticated new eye tracking and Natural Facial Expressions features, which enable social presence in Avatars – allowing your Avatar to mimic your eye and facial movements more naturally so you feel more present in VR with friends, family, and co-workers. The eye tracking feature will also enable you to use gaze as input so you can interact with virtual content. Meta Quest Pro will introduce a fit adjustment feature, which uses the position of your eyes and lower face to determine whether your headset is fitted optimally for better comfort, visual clarity and VR experience. These features are off by default, and you can opt-in for use of these features directly from your headset. Also, to offer you greater control, you choose which apps (if any) are allowed to access your eye tracking and Natural Facial Expressions data. No raw image data of your eyes or face from these sensors ever leaves your headset. Check out the video on how you can opt-in/opt-out to these sensors to ensure you control what data you share. Raising awareness for bystanders

Meta Quest Pro comes equipped with LED lights which illuminate when the external cameras are in use and when the Passthrough feature is in use, so you won’t catch anyone near you off guard. A white LED in the center of the headset indicates when the cameras are on, which turns blue when Passthrough is on as well, meaning the headset wearer is using mixed reality features that process the physical surroundings.
